Xingyiquan Curricula
In Beginning classes, the student will start with basics which include alignment, stances, stepping, and the 5 forces. The student will learn the first 3 Tang Shou Tao Eight Step forms of Ba Bu Da, Ba Lien Shou, and Ba Tang Chuan. The student will then learns the forms of the 5 elements (forces) or Wu Hsing. Applications are covered weekly as well. Push hands and Two-Person Five force training is introduced during this training as well as Standing Meditation or Zhan Zhuang. In later stages 12 animal forms, additional two-person forms, and sparring/free fighting are taught.
Beginning Xingyiquan Form
This class will include warm-ups, conditioning, and stretching exercises. Additionally Tien Kan or Heavenly Stem exercises will be introduced. These exercised target the health of the spine and strengthen the core. Students will learn the Tang Shou Tao Hsing-I Chuan beginning Eight Step forms of Ba Bu Da Eight Steps Beat, Ba Lien Shou Eight Circular Hand, and Ba Tang Chuan Eight China Fist. After these forms the student is introduced to the 5 force forms or Wu Hsing.
Beginning Xingyiquan Applications
This class will include warm-ups, conditioning and stretching exercises, and Tien Kan Heavenly Stem exercises. It will also include 5 Element punches training. The student will practice punches and kicks with focus mitts and/or shields. The student will be introduced to 2 man training including forearm bangs, brush block trap, and roll over roll under. Also 2 man 5 element training will be introduced. The end of each class will cover practical applications and include repetition with a training partner.
